ROCK EN SEINE IN PARIS

Maybe you haven’t heard about it, but in fact Paris has its very own music festival which takes place every year in August. The festival is called Rock en Seine and this year you can experience big names like Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys and many more. Rock en Seine started back in 2003 and since then it has only gone forward. The first festival was a one-day-festival with 10 bands giving concerts on 2 stages. Two years later in 2005 the festival had three stages and a total of 46.000 guests. In 2009, Rock en Seine attracted 90,000 visitors and it was on this festival that Oasis split up after the two brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher came into a fight shortly before they were going on stage. The festival has featured big names like REM, Rage Against the Machine, Keane and Skunk Anansie and Rock en Seine had last year 105.000 visitors and is expected to increase in this year’s edition. The festival has three stages and headliners at this year’s festival is the Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys and Archive, each of the bands ends the three evenings on the main stage. It is possible to bring your own tent on the festival campsite, but it has to be booked in advance and Rock en Seine 2011 has been sold out for a long time. You can experience the Rock en Seine from 26th – 28th August 2011 at Domaine National de Saint-Cloud, which is located just outside Paris. See more information at the festival’s website.
